St. Francis, alongside St. Anthony, holds a cherished place in the hearts of Italians as one of the most revered saints. Despite his short life of 42 years, his teachings of poverty, chastity, and obedience led to the founding of the Order of Friars Minor and the Order of St. Clare for women.

St. Francis' profound love for nature and all of God's creation has resonated through time, earning him the title of Patron Saint of Ecology by Pope John Paul II in 1979. His legacy of simplicity and humility has inspired countless works of art across various mediums.
