Educational Programs

Ideal for adults, this program includes a documentary video and guided tour. Visitors discuss the history of the 160-year-old Gothic-Revival style house and its famous occupants, Giuseppe Garibaldi and Antonio Meucci. Learn about General Garibaldi's valiant efforts to unify Italy and the fate of Antonio Meucci, the true inventor of the telephone. Groups may wish to combine a group tour with one of our Speaker Bureau topics for an additional fee. 

Our school programs are designed as interdisciplinary, hands-on experiences that enable youths to explore their creativity, discover their community and learn about Italian culture and history. School programs are content-rich, hands-on experiences that support the New York State Standards. Students explore primary sources through inquiry-based discussion and activities facilitated by museum educators. All tours can be modified for groups with special needs. Each program lasts approximately 90 minutes. The cost for participation is $7.00 per person. School trips must include one teacher and two chaperones (free). A $40.00 deposit is required. There is a minimum of 20 children and a maximum of 30, per visit. All dates are considered tentative until the deposit is received and confirmation has been made.

Learn Italian at one of the oldest Italian American Cultural Centers in the United States, the home of Antonio Meucci and his house guest, Giuseppe Garibaldi.
The 10-week semester begins in March 2022 with 90-minute classes offered weekdays, evenings and Saturday to accommodate most schedules, for students of all levels of proficiency.
Tuition is $200 for non-members and $185 for museum members and must be paid in advance.


Speakers Bureau Program

The purpose of the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum Speaker's Bureau is to make programs related to Italian heritage and culture available to schools, community groups, and senior and civic associations at their preferred sites or here at the museum.The Italian-American experience comes to you through our experienced speakers on over twenty topics ranging from Italian opera to Italian-American legends and culture. Each topic will enlighten any group to the vast cultural and social impact that Italians and Italian-Americans have impressed upon world history.

Museum 2

Learn about the many contributions Italy has made to western civilization! Professor Leonini leads discussion on topics such as the Legacy of Rome, Middle Ages, and Renaissance in Italy. The 6-week series begins in March 2022 with a 90-minute program offered on Saturday mornings. Program costs are $135 for non-members and $125 for members.
